FROM THE MCCS DIRECTOR
On behalf of the dedicated staff at Marine Corps Community Services (MCCS) Henderson Hall, I want to thank you for utilizing our facilities, taking part in our activities, and allowing us to serve you as you serve your country. It’s our privilege to provide the goods you need and want, the programs that benefit your quality of life, and the facilities that make you proud to be associated with Henderson Hall. Our mission is simple: to support Marine and Marine family readiness and retention. We do that through the dedicated service of our employees—from the Marine Corps Exchange and retail facilities, Semper Fit’s Smith Gym, Marine Club, Marine & Family Services, and those in the support branch.
The Marine Corps Exchange (MCX) has been proudly serving Marines and their families since 1897. Henderson Hall offers an extraordinary MCX, and we always remind our patrons that profits generated at Henderson Hall stay at Henderson Hall to support quality-of-life initiatives for our Marines, Sailors, and their families. In spring 2010, this fine facility will undergo renovation to upgrade the interior and add additional space as well as a Java Café coffee shop for our expanding product offerings. The first stage, relocation of the Uniform Shop to a temporary facility on the PT field adjacent to Smith Gym, is already under way. Roads will be constructed to facilitate access through the flood basin, impacting parking aboard the installation. While any renovation entails sacrifice, it is out intention to minimize the impact to our customers during this time. I am certain that you will like our new look…the MCX transformed, with a projected grand opening in fall 2011.
We now have the finest military workout facility in the National Capital Region, made even more awe-inspiring with Marine-themed photo murals throughout the facility. Our pool has been renovated and is now open year-round. And the Marine Club is being remodeled inside to reflect the perfect setting for your next event…we specialize in retirement, promotion, and hail and farewell parties. If you haven’t been to Henderson Hall recently, do stop by and check out these newly renovated facilities. I am sure you’ll like what you see.
I invite you to find out more about MCCS by visiting our website, returning often, and taking part in what we offer. On behalf of the entire staff, I thank you for the opportunity to be of service
