Renovation Phase 3 Is Now Underway

The first floor addition remains open while the rest of the first floor undergoes renovation. The cash cage will remain open as well, through a specially made accessway. An accessway will be in place to the first floor addition as well. Restrooms have moved to the second floor. ATM machine is now located at the main front entrance.

What You Should Know

The MCX is adding 15,000 square feet of retail space on the first and second floors.

Many departments will be moved to new locations and the interior will be refurbished to provide wider, ADA-compliant aisles and a fresh, new look. “From curb to register,” we intend to show you an enhanced shopping experience.

When the newly-added space is completed, we will begin refurbishing starting on the third floor. As each floor is refurbished, we will move departments into their new homes.

We are adding a Java Café, serving Starbucks coffee as well as breakfast and lunch items—salads, sandwiches, and assorted hot and cold beverages. The Uniform Shop, temporarily located on the PT field, will move into the third floor.

A parking area will be located near The Vineyard for easier access and more convenient loading of your purchases.

Our MCX will get a new “front door” matching stores around the Corps. Our MCX brand—Core Brands, Corps Value—will be visibly identifiable to Marines wherever they serve around the globe.

Some parking for patrons with handicapped parking privileges will remain in front of the store; additional spaces have been added on the first deck of the parking garage on the right side as soon as you enter. There are also handicapped parking spaces on the top deck of the parking garage near the breezeway entrance, where the ATM will be temporarily relocated.

Though this project is disruptive and inconvenient, we trust that when it’s completed your shopping experience will be outstanding. There is a Marine Corps saying that applies: “Pain is Temporary—Pride is Forever!”

The third floor is now closed for renovation. First and second floors are accessible from the escalators, steps, and elevator. All doors are open: front doors, breezeway doors, new front side doors, and first floor addition doors.

Both the breezeway and the front doors to the main store are open. Doors on the first floor are open. The elevator is in service only between the first and third floors, bypassing the second floor. Escalators are not running but are open to be used as stairs. All staircases are closed. Thank you for your continued patience.

The MCX remains open for business. The additions on the first and second floors are open. Access the sales floors through the breezeway entrance. Please follow posted signs. Patrons may now walk in front of the main store to access The Vineyard, ITT, the Marine Club, and the barber shop. The Vineyard may also be accessed through the main store doors in the first floor addition. Thank you for your patience.

We are excited to announce that the additions on the first and second floors are ready to receive merchandise. We will be working over the next few days to facilitate the following moves: To the first floor addition we are moving Domestics and Housewares. To the second floor addition we are moving Cosmetics, Jewelry, Gifts, and Villeroy & Boch. Luggage is now located in the third floor. Gourmet Food has already moved to the first floor.

Structural welding continues this week with piling being put in place. Foundations for the addition are scheduled to be poured sometime within the next two weeks, with steel erection scheduled for mid-October. By the end of October pre-fabricated brick panels will be installed. Our new exchange will soon be taking shape, but meanwhile we remind you to please use caution in and around the construction area.

Shoring and piling work for the expansion area is under way. Foundation work will begin in the next few weeks with steel erection soon afterward.

The MCX has only two patron entrances/exits: at the luggage department on the second floor and through the breezeway on the second floor. All escalators are in service, as is the elevator.

The ATM has been relocated to the breezeway and dispenses cash 24/7.

We remind our customers that the construction zone is off limits and ask that you follow directional signs to The Vineyard, ITT, the barber shop, and the Marine Club, all of which remain open during construction.

The front parking lot and entrance foyer have been blocked by construction. There is no longer parking for patrons with handicapped parking privileges in front of the store. There are handicapped parking spaces in the parking garage on the first level and on level adjacent to the breezeway entrance.

The Navy Federal Credit Union ATM in the front foyer is no longer available. A stand alone ATM will be installed in the breezeway by early September. We apologize for the short notice.

In an unrelated issue, the escalator from the first floor to the second floor has been repaired and is now operational.

Temporary walls inside the store will be completed by the end of this week. Shoring and foundation work will begin next week, so please be aware of more heavy trucks operating in and around the construction zone.

Again, we appreciate your patronage during this time and apologize for the inconveniences necessitated by this project.

Interior walls on the 1st and 2nd floor are being moved, affecting the space for our merchandise displays. Our contractor insures that dust is contained during this process; you will notice plastic sheeting is installed. It may be a bit noisy at times, too. Please use caution around these areas. Sometime next week, the front entrance to the store will be closed; the ATM will be relocated. We continue to have a few parking spaces in the front parking lot reserved for our patrons with handicapped parking privileges.

The Vineyard, barber shop, ITT, and the Marine Club are open during construction. Access is around the front of the main store parking lot. At times, customers may be diverted down the steps by the club, along the exterior wall of the club, and up the steps to the sidewalk. We truly regret this necessary inconvenience. There is a small loading area near the top of the steps to the club; we will assist you in loading your Vineyard purchases. We ask you, for your safety, to please not enter construction zones.

Construction has expanded to include the front parking lot of the Marine Corps Exchange main store. The parking area in front of the old Military Clothing Sales Store (uniform shop) and the road leading to it in front of The Shoppes are still under construction. Access in and around these areas is restricted to construction vehicles only. Pedestrian walkways are set up from the main store front entrance foyer around fencelines in front of the Marine Club and to The Shoppes. All retail activities, to include the MCX, The Vineyard, Information Tickets and Tours, barber shop, and the Marine Club remain open during renovation. The uniform shop is open on the PT field across from Smith Gym. Please follow posted signs to entrances and use caution near construction areas. While we are no longer able to provide Vineyard pick up parking spots and loading zones, the staff at The Vineyard will assist patrons to their vehicles. The MCX, The Vineyard Wine & Spirits, Information Tickets and Tours, and the Marine Club remain open for business during construction. Please follow posted signs to entrances. The Uniform Shop is open for business on the PT Field adjacent to Smith Gym. The front half of the MCX front parking lot has been closed for construction. This has affected parking spaces for patrons with handicap parking privileges. Additional spaces for patrons with handicapped parking privileges are designated in the parking garage, first level and top level adjacent to the breezeway entrance. We appreciate our patrons’ understanding and patience during the construction process.

The Military Clothing Sales Store (MCSS) has permanently closed in its location next to the Marine Corps Exchange. The MCSS is in the process of relocating to its temporary location on the PT field across from Smith Gym. The store will re-open as soon as possible. Phone and store hours will remain the same.

The road between the Marine Corps Exchange main store and The Shoppes is closed. The road in front of the Marine Club is open for deliveries and customer loading only. The front parking lot is open, and three parking spots have been designated for customers of The Vineyard Wine & Spirits. Please use extreme caution when walking or driving in this area due to the presence of delivery trucks and construction vehicles.

We expect to have space in front of the Marine Club designated for Vineyard patrons to load purchases. These spaces will be clearly marked in the coming days.

THE MCX IS CLOSED TODAY, JUNE 21, DUE TO A/C OUTAGE.

THE VINEYARD, UNIFORM SHOP, AND BARBER SHOP ARE OPEN TODAY, JUNE 21, BUT WILL CLOSE AT 4 PM.

The sidewalk beside the MCX main store is closed. The road between the main store and "The Shoppes" also is closed. To access the Uniform Shop, please walk behind the main store. One set of doors to the main store foyer remain open for ATM access. Please use extreme caution when walking near the front doors of the MCX.

Construction continues on the asphalt near the loading dock, and utility work on water lines is under way. Delivery trucks will still have access to the loading dock. Continuation of delivery access to The Vineyard is an issue being worked. The new road between the flood lot and the loading dock is on track to complete in July, a major step in finishing Phase 1 of the project. Please check back for updates.

The MCX main store, The Vineyard Wine & Spirits, and the Uniform Shop remain open during construction. The parking garage and front parking lot are open. The Uniform Shop will relocate to the field across from Smith Gym later this month.

The flood lot parking area is closed. The parking lot beside the MCX and in front of the Uniform Shop is closed as heavy equipment is preparing to build a road to provide access to the loading dock from the flood lot parking area. Vehicles may not enter the road between the Marine Corps Exchange and “The Shoppes” where the barber shop and The Vineyard Wine & Spirits are located (see photo 2). Exceptions are made for delivery vehicles, vehicles picking up large items from the MCX, and for loading purchases from The Vineyard. Please ask a store associate to move the construction barrels.

We suggest that Uniform Shop patrons pass through the main store’s lower level and exit by the bookstore to access the Uniform Shop (see photo 3). An alternate route is to use the sidewalk beside the main store. Please use caution in this area.
