Henderson Hall Marine Corps Base Professional Reading Room was established to house the books that comprise the Commandant’s Reading List. Marines can use the room anytime for a variety of activities to include quiet reading and small study groups. Study group meetings must be scheduled. The room was designed to be aesthetically pleasing, creating a relaxing atmosphere for Marines.

The Professional Reading Room is located in Building 29, Room 203, 1555 Southgate Road, Arlington, VA 22214-5000. The Professional Reading Room point of contact is Mr. Larry Ward, 1st Lt. (RET) USMC,
703-693-9197, hnhl_rao.fct@usmc.mil. The hours of operation are: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, from 8 AM – 4 PM. If you need assistance on Wednesdays, please visit the Education Office, Room 204, or call 703-614-9104.

Checkout procedures for military books from the Professional Reading Room

• Military books may be checked out for a period of up to one month with a two week renewal extension if requested by phone call.
  
  
• All military books will be checked out by entering the required information in the red binder located in the Professional Reading Room.
  
  
• When a person checks out a military book from the Henderson Hall Professional Reading Room and it becomes past due, a reminder e-mail/phone call will be sent/made to the service member. If there is no reply within two days, then the service member’s supervisor will be contacted.
