Military Spouse Appreciation Day

In honor of Military Appreciation Day and the Lifestyle, Insights, Networking, Knowledge and Skills (L.I.N.K.S.) 20th Anniversary, Marine Corps Family Team Building invites spouses to "Celebrate the Jorney" aboard The Spirit of Washington for a free lunch cruise.

Cruise with us on Friday, May 11, 2018.
Boarding at 11:15 am and returning at 2:00 pm.
Bus service from Henderson Hall will depart for the dock at 10:30 am and pick up at the dock at 2:10 pm.

Seating is Limited.
Registration will be taken on a first-come, first-serve basis with priority reserved for award nominees.

Marines may show their appreciation for their spouses by nominating them for the prestigious Scarlet and Gold Awards.

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. Who can attend?
    Military spouses (open to all branches). The nominating spouses of the winners of the Scarlet and Gold awards may attend as special guests to share in the celebration.
  2. How is the awardee chosen?
    Awardees will be chosen by a panel. Nominations should include examples that illustrate how the nominee supports his/her family, community, and/or the country (depending on the award) with the resiliency, strength, and dedication that characterize U.S. Marine Corps spouses.
  3. Who can nominate a Marine spouse for this honor?
    Only active duty Service Members may submit nominations. Service Members attached or assigned within the National Capitol Region (NCR) to Headquarters, U.S. Marine Corps, other Departments and Agencies of the Federal Government, Joint or Armed Service Schools, and Marine Corps personnel assigned within the NCR to duty under instruction, awaiting separation, assignment, or transportation, or who are hospitalized.
  4. The Marine spouse’s husband or wife is deployed or completing an individual augment. Is someone else who is not the active duty spouse able to nominate him/her?
    Yes.
  5. Can a spouse be nominated for both awards?
    Yes.
  6. How do I submit a nomination?
    Nominations are to be submitted via email to Marine Corps Family Team Building, Subject: Spouse Appreciation Award Nominations, at mcftbhh@usmc-mccs.org no later than 1 May 2018 at 1600 (Eastern Standard Time). Please include your name and email address, the name and email address of your nominee, and attach the Nomination Form below or copy and paste in the email along with your written explanation (250-500 words) on why your nominee deserves this recognition.
