Monday, November 3

  • The Tutor & Buddy Program goes to Barcroft Elementary School 12:15 AM – 1:30 PM. Mentors are needed, and transportation is provided; the bus departs at the pull-up bars at Cpl Terry L. Smith Gym. 703-693-8378.

  • The Semper Fit Remembrance Race (postponed from October 22) will start at 6:30 AM at Smith Gym. Sign in or register late starting at 5:45 AM. The first 150 participants receive a t-shirt, and the top three male and female finishers receive a gift card, courtesy of our sponsor Pacers Running Stores. The race is also sponsored by Navy Mutual Aid Association, and GEICO.  BodyArmor will be on site with their SuperDrink.
  • An orientation for newcomers is held starting at 8 AM in Bldg. 29, Rm. 105. Family members are welcome to attend. A bus tour of the local area is held after the orientation. Call to register: 703-614-7202.

  • Little Patriots Play Group meets at the Indian Head, Maryland, USO 10 – 11 AM. Refreshments are sponsored by Navy Mutual Aid Association. 703-614-7204.

  • MCCS Henderson Hall Veterans Day holiday hours for Tuesday, November 11: the Marine Corps Exchange and The Vineyard Wine & Spirits open 10 AM – 6 PM; the American Clipper Barber Shop opens 11 AM – 3 PM; the Java Café opens 10 AM – 4 PM; the Cpl. Terry L. Smith Gymnasium opens 7:30 AM – 3 PM, but Outdoor Recreation Gear Issue is closed. All other MCCS activities are closed, except the car wash, open 24 hours a day.
  • Alexandre London holds a “Meet the Manager” event November 13 – 15. Stop by the MCX any time during business hours and learn how to tie a tie, what makes a great interview suit, and how to select an ideal combination of suit and tie.
  • From the Family Readiness Officer: Marines and military spouses and children may make ornaments for one of the Christmas trees at the White House; emphasis is on depictions of military families and people, not military units.
